About Kelly

By profession I am a medical doctor with a general practice in Zurich, Switzerland, which I have been nurturing for 22 years (www.diehausaerztin.ch). I have a passion for photography, attracted in particular to nature, beaches, and large spaces, less to photographing people. I am stimulated by the challenge of capturing changing light and colors. These and the landscapes and themes I want to capture determine where my husband and I travel. Amongst the countries we visited recently were Greenland, Iceland, Namibia, Brasil and the USA. For me taking photos is like painting with light. When I print blurred photos onto mat cotton canvas the difference between picture and painting is often scarcely discernible, even without using Photoshop – for, at most, my editing consists of cropping or slight changes of contrast. Painting is for me a very dynamic act, almost like exercise or sport. It liberates me and allows me to “feel” myself in an active and intellectual way, therefore I paint on big canvases. Painting I enjoy most because of the infinite possibility of limitless colours, and because of the movement and the freedom it involves. In my profession, I often feel my role is about absorbing other peoples’ issues and it is often difficult to see the result of this personal “investment”. It can be a lengthy process. Taking photos and painting is about action and reaction, producing something tangible, engaging in a (silent) dialogue with myself and the world around. These two worlds I live in, evolve independently of each other, complement each other and help me feel more complete too. All photos are in limited editions of seven + artist proofs. The sizes and print supports (e.g. paper, canvas, wood) can be adapted to your requirements. Please feel free to contact me.
